The Rose

The rose of rose city sits at her table, and shows me treasures from the sea

it may have ben years since last sat beside her, but she'll never feel like a stranger to me

twas never a secret that we've always shared, a faint longing from afar

she says we're victims of terrible timing, closer than a shadow, distant as a star

>chorus1:

For the first time tonight she laid her head on my shoulder

and slept in my arms even though

I've never told her with words I could love her

It's too late she already knows

it's too late she already knows

We shared our stories of loves that had ended, crossed over the tender abyss

Her long silver hair makes her look like an angel, but I've never held an angel like this

>chorus 2:

for the first time tonight she laid herself down beside me

and slept in my arms even though

she's never told me with words she could love me,

it's too late I already know

it's too late she already knows

>chorus 3

when I leave here tonight she'll lay her head on her pillow

knowing wherever I go

my hart, my soul, and my admiration stays with her

'cause she is the rose

stays with her 'cause she is the rose
